Upgrade to 3.1.3

Hey guys, I need some help.
I just got an used iPod touch 3G with iOS 3.1.1.

I tried to jailbreak it with "jailbreakme.com" but it didn't work. (it says I need to upgrade the iOS).

That's why I'm trying to upgrade my iPod to iOS 3.1.3. I downloaded 3.1.3 on "http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/" and tried to upgrade with iTunes (shift+restore) but it didn't work either.

I've heard there are some battery life problems with iOS 4, so I don't want to upgrade to the latest firmware.

Is there anyway for me to upgrade from 3.1.1 to 3.1.3?

iOS 4 has good battery. At least 4.2.1 does. What gigabyte is your iPod? The 8 GB 3rd gen iPods are more like the 2nd gen iPods and can only go up to 4.2.1.

Mine is a 32 GB 3rd gen iPod Touch. Based on TinyUmbrella, I only have saved SHSHs for iOS 4.1 and for the latest one, 4.3.2. So I guess it's impossible for me to go to 3.1.3.

No SHSH blob means no downgrading. I would upgrade to 4.3.2, save that SHSH blob. and then downgrade to 4.1 and wait for an untethered jailbreak for 4.3.2.

Awesome. But the Cydia apps/tweaks have to be compatible with 4.3.2 also. I'm not keeping track on which jailbreaks are untethered. I'm still on 4.2.1.
