iPod Touch 1G Restore Issue
Sup fellas. I got a question that apparently has stumped a pretty large portion of the Internet.
I just received an Ipod Touch 1st Gen from a friend to restore to the most current firmware and fill it up with songs to it's capacity (8gb).
I plugged it in, iTunes recognized it, and I simply clicked "Restore" to completely wipe the slate and upgrade it's FW to 3.0 (I believe).
Now after searching the entire web and these forums, I am still stumped. I'm a jailbroken iPhone 4 and I know the ropes with iDevices and their states of activity; however, when restoring, it hangs on both the iPod and in iTunes.

The progress bar stops around 95% with the same outcome on the iPod. I've tried other methods involving throwing it into DFU mode and such, but no dice.
Could someone help me out! Thanks

Wow, well I haven't experienced this but I'm gonna try to help instead of passing this thread. Try holding shift+restore and selecting some other firmware like 2.x

I've tried literally every firmware at this FW hosting site for the 1G that was still downloadable. I also tried a FW called "whited00r" which aimed to try and assimilate the differences between 4.0 and 3.1.3.
GAH
So, I just downloaded Redsn0w 0.9.3. for Mac. I tried all my old FWs again, and, lo and behold, 3.1.2 worked; however, when redsn0w prompts me to put the iPod 1G in DFU, it cuts straight to "the rest of the jailbreak will occur on the device".
Supposedly I have to restore my iPod to 3.1.3. before I can jailbreak it, but iTunes will not finish restoring it to 3.1.3, and it will not even recognize 3.1.2. I'm so confused. I'm starting to believe that it might be this version of iTunes is too new for these processes.
Finally got it! Turns out I download 3.1.2 for the 3G instead of the 1G due to a faulty link. After I saw "iPod3,1" instead of "iPod1,1" I got really angry at myself for making such a stupid mistake. Oh well!Last edited by back2thebeatof84; 04-13-2011 at 05:22 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost
