Need help on how to jailbreak pod touch 32 gb 4th generation

Hi, by my name you can tell im a really confused blonde. Im trying to figure out how to jailbreak my ipod touch so i can download free music and apps. I have heard of so many programs like green poison, snow leopard, red snow but i have no idea what to use to get the best success. I was wondering if someone can tell me what program i can use so i can get the music and the apps for free? It would be really helpful if you could send me a link to a website to download it and if you could give me a step by step instructions. Thanks for helping out a damsel in distress.
