Cannot change the name of my iTouch -.-

well...not sure what happened but i tried changing the name of my ipod to Synister instead of Syn and for some reason it stopped me from doing so and now my ipod is named "S". Everytime I try to change it it will not bring up the name line in itunes. I really do not want to restore since it was working perfectly fine yesterday. Is there another way I can change the name of my ipod without using iTunes?

Also I've gotten a barrage of errors when i connect it. Errors that state it can't read from the disk and it couldn't be verified.

Goto settings on your iPod and touch general then about and scroll down to where it says Version and whatever that says goto http://felixbruns.de/ on your computer
And click iPod Firmware, download your firmware (what it says in settings on version) and then restore to it in iTunes by pressing Shift and restore (on windows) then select your downloaded firmware and click ok then it will be okay to change it's name ( just drag the media you no longer have onto the name of your iPod
