    download tiny umbrella, and hit save shsh and see if you have shsh for 4.2.1

    Open”Hosts” file in NotePad from this location in Windows OS:C:/WINDOWS/system32/drivers/etc
    Add this string at the end of the document: 74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
    Close and save the changes
    Open iTunes and connect your device with the Computer using USB cable and put your device into DFU mode. Putting device into DFU mode procedure is as follows:
    Turn off your phone.
    Press and hold the Home button and the Power button at the same time.
    After exactly 10 seconds release the Power button. Continue holding the home button until computer recognizes your iPhone.
    At this point you will have to select the file ipsw iOS 4.2.1 or 4.1, which is the firmware you wanted to restore and then click ok to start the recovery process.

    This is how i did mine with no problems at all
