    Follow these steps for greenpois0n.

    1) turn device off
    2) follow timer in GP
    3) it will probably fail, close GP but don't do anything with your device just leave it as it is
    4) open GP again and do it over
    5) repeat above steps until you get to click Jailbreak button
    6) when that occurs, do not let go of the home button. Keep holding until all the codes are done and the apple/greenpois0n boot logo shows up.

Basically, there are two things you can try. They are:
    1) Restore and re-jailbreak, or
    2) Use apt-get to attempt to fix it.

Option 1 will fix it for sure, as you will be required to start over again. Option 2 is more technical, and does have the possibility of damaging your iPod so you have to restore it. For option 2, you need to have one or both of the following installed on your iPod.

    - Terminal
    - SSH

If you have neither installed.... You are a MORON. There's no other way to describe it accurately. These provide you with the ability to fix almost any issue with your iPod. Without them, your only option is to restore your iPod. Jail-breaking your iPod and not installing SSH or Terminal is almost akin to not doing regular maintenance on your car or your house. One day, its going to have a catastrophic failure, and you'll have no one to blame but yourself.

    Now for the good stuff.

Usually, when Cydia has issues displaying any packages at all, its because the underlying interface wasn't able to finish what it was last doing. Cydia really is only a front end for APT-GET. If you use almost any flavor of Linux, you should be familiar with it, and should already know what to do. For those of you who don't, let me explain. APT-GET is like "Add and Remove Programs" in Windows. It stores a list of programs that have been installed, and provides you with options for modifying, removing, and installing programs. When APT-GET can't finish installing, modifying or removing a program, it has no idea what is currently installed on the machine. Since Cydia asks APT-GET whats installed on the machine, and APT-GET's list is currently broken, Cydia has no idea whats on the machine. The only way to fix this, is to get APT-GET to finish what it was doing. The steps for doing this are:

    1)Open terminal
2)Type su and then press enter
    3)Type in the administrator's password
4)Type apt-get install then press enter
5)Watch whats printed out on the screen. If APT-GET needs you to perform any other commands, it will tell you.
Once APT-GET is finished fixing the failed install, you should be able to use Cydia again.

If this didn't work for you, make sure you typed everything correctly. If it still doesn't work, restore it. Its possible that you have an underlying problem that is easier to fix by restoring rather than tinkering with the terminal.

no. you do NOT need those cydia packages. there are several other ways to view the root system of the ipod one; cyberduck two; iphone browser. you can locate all of your cydia packages there. i fixed it by deleting all of my sources and some packages. send me a pm if you need help

Okay, first off, root access of the file system is fine and dandy, but how the hell are you supposed to run commands from the filesystem? Two, why would you delete your cydia repositories? If I'm not mistaken, that's more or less suicide... What are you going to do if there's a fatal bug in MobileSubstrate? Without ssh installed, you're screwed.

Somehow, Cydia's repositories, or "Sources" as you call them, seem important... then again, I may just be mistaken... all I'm saying is the repository that holds Mobile Substrate seems kind of important to me.... How about the repository that holds Aptitude? Or should we call it Cydia's backend? That also seems kind of important to me.... But then again, what do I know. I'm a user with two posts.

Somehow, that doesn't seem like a good idea... And a jailbreak is nothing more than a method of allowing write access to the root partition. What you're referring to is deleting cydia apps, and cydia, then reinstalling them

I did. And I'm saying deleting cydia isnt a good idea. Yeah, you can get it back again, but you may not fix the underlying issue. And if im an idiot, what does a jailbreak do?
