I just accidentally deleted cydia!
I don't know what to do. I have a 4g touch. And I want to get cydia back but I don't want to do something stupid and ruin it. What do I do.

What is your firmware. Do you have your shsh's saved. If you are on 4.2.1 I doubt you do. The only way is to restore and rejailbreak.

Not necessarily! If you have iFile or OpenSSH installed on your phone, you can easily reinstall Cydia.
Reinstalling with iFile (easiest way):
[ame=http://www.ipodtouchfans.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2518715&postcount=6]iFans - iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch Fans forums - View Single Post - Cydia Backup files[/ame]
Reinstalling via SSH (requires OpenSSH on your phone):
Download this file on your computer:
http://apt.saurik.com/debs/cydia_1.0...honeos-arm.deb
It is the new version of Cydia.
Use an SSH client on your computer (like WinSCP, for Windows) to put the Cydia .deb file in /var/stash on your iPod. Then in the terminal of the SSH client (such as the WinSCP terminal), send these commands to your iPod:
cd /var/stash
dpkg -i cydia_1.0.3366-1_iphoneos-arm.deb
That should reinstall Cydia.
EDIT: I removed the following terminal commands from the above because they are only needed if you use MobileTerminal:
su
alpine (or if you have changed your iPod root password, use that)
If you use WinSCP you should already have root (logging in as root@[ip_address].Last edited by lanulos; 01-19-2011 at 08:23 AM.

Ok I know that but it doesn't seem like they know what to do entirely.

SSH is just a way to access the file system on your iPod from your computer via WiFi. You would need to have installed something called OpenSSH from Cydia. Some Cydia programs install this automatically, so you might have it even if you didn't directly install it. Then you would use an SSH client on your computer, like WinSCP for Windows, or PuTTy (? I think) for Mac. using that you would then log into your iPod at the address root@[ip_address] where [ip_address] is the address of your iPod on your home WiFi network. Mine is [email protected]; yours would have the last two numbers different (probably).
So the great mystery remains: how exactly did you delete Cydia? Inquiring minds want to know.

Well we are all quite curious. Unless you really don't want to share, how did your cydia manage to get deleted?
