    Default New touch jailbreak?

I want to jailbreak my new touch. But sence I'm completely clueless on all this, I think I'm hearing I can't do that yet with whatever system or upgrade it's on? Can somebody please explain this to me and tell me if I can or can't jailbreak my iPod?

You would use Redsn0w 0.9.6b6 to jailbreak it. It will be tethered though. Meaning you'll have to run redsn0w to boot tethered and get your iPod running again whenever it shuts off or reboots.

So when an untethered jailbreak comes out for this firmware all I have to do is turn it off and jailbreak again?

Probably when 4.3 comes out. Which is probably closer to February.

If you jb it now and it is tethered, and the new untethered comes out, you will have to restore and then jb again.

Then I jailbreak, and when the untethered version comes out, I just restore, jailbreak, and then just sync to iTunes?

Yeah but you should probably sync before you restore...considering restoring wipes the device out so if you synced after restoring there is nothing to sync.

Reboot the phone. Restore and do the jb again if that doesn't work.

You need to use redsnow to boot tethered.

I tried booting tethered but then it wouldn't let me download cydia. The little check mark kept switching when I tried to click both

you already have cydia installed. You only need to check the box labelled boot tethered. Then your cydia will work. You have to do this everytime you reboot.
