Upgrading to 3.1.2 problem please help!
First off let me say that im not the most computer savvy person. I know easy basics but thats about it. Now that that is out of the way.....
Im having a problem upgrading my 2G Ipod Touch 2.2.1 MA model to 3.1.2 or higher. I have Itunes 10 downloaded. I use the Felixbruns website to get the 3.1.2 download and im using Firefox. I see people downloading the file to their desktop but I cant find how to get it saved there(It comes up as "Save As" but nowhere to put it) I use the "Shift+Restore" trick and it comes up Firmware Files are not compatible. Can someone please help me out with this? Thanks

Why dont you just let iTunes update your iPod? It will update to the latest.

You currently are on 2.2.1 and when you click update it says current? Have you tried clicking restore?

I didnt want to restore because im on my sister computer(I downloaded all my music on my friends computer so I didnt want to lose it all)
But yeah it says its current and wont update to anything. Will restoring it update it to the newest update(4.2.1 or something)?

I just got an iPod and all I had to work with was 3.0 for my first jailbreak. After a look at the net and found more resources and stuff I got the 3.1.2 and iTunes needs to verify b4 it upgrades. Does anyone else have the same issues or should I have upgraded straight to 3.1.2. Thanks

Thanks. I just found out about 4.X.X series. So I will check it out before I upgrade again. I am skipping the 3.X series. Any suggestion on any Firmware in particular. I notice IOS4.1 is a bit popular.
