Using Jailbreak me does not work

I have a iPod touch 2g 3.1.3 8gb and jailbreakme keeps crashing (goes to the apple logo/when you turn it on). Then the slide doesn't work like you can't slide the thing. Please help I want to jailbreak from my ipod.

Well there might be an easier way to do with with the 3.1.3 firmware.
(redsn0w for instance)

However What I did to get it to work (iptouch 2g) was to download the 4.1 firmware ipsw from modmyi. Went to itunes and shift+click on restore and selected the 4.1 firmware.

Appleis still signing this firmware (at least as of lastnight)

After I restored to 4.1 firmware I used greenpois0n to jailbreak.

Untethered jailbreak no problems.

You can use redsnow 0.9.4 to jailbreak that (point it to a 3.1.2 firmware) if you are having issues with jailbreakme.com

Only if it is a MB model though. MC model will be a bit more tricky.

Have you tried Spirit? ( Spirit )
It was specifically designed for 3.1.3.
The catch is you need to have a version of iTunes earlier than 9.2. You would have to google where to find that.
EDIT: Here are old iTunes versions (I would suggest 9.1.1 which I had when I used Spirit):
