Cydia Crashes when Jailbreak iPod 4 4.2.1
So when 4.2.1 came out, I thought that I don't really need my jailbreak that bad, so I upgraded from 4.1 untethered to 4.2.1 no jailbreak. Now I really want my jailbreak back, untethered or not. I realize that the jailbreak for the iPod touch 4th gen is tethered on iOS 4.2.1 right now, by the way.
So I downloaded the latest version of redsn0w for Mac (0.9.6 b6), pointed to the correct firmware file, went through and checked 'Install Cydia' and 'Enable Battery Percentage', and hit next. I got to DFU mode and everything OK, and redsn0w finished and told me I was jailbroken, and to let the rest of the process take place on my device. It also told me that even if I just now preformed the jailbreak on my iDevice, I would have to boot tethered. So I opened redsn0w back up, went all the way through the process again, but stopped where you select what you want to do to your device. Here, I unchecked everything except 'Just boot tethered right now', and waited for my device to show the connect to iTunes screen.
Except, it never got there. After the terminal and everything, my iPod just booted up normally. The Cydia icon is on my SpringBoard, but it's a blank white icon and when I try to open it, it's almost like a frame opens up, but no application even starts, it crashes before anything comes up.
So after this, I restore my iPod, and download the newest Pwnage Tool (the 4.1.3 Unlock Edition) but it wouldn't even let me select the 4.2.1 firmware, only 4.1.
So I tried beta 5 of redsn0w but it just repeated what beta 6 did. Any suggestions?

The only thing I can think to do would be to just wait for the untethered jailbreak.
Could you link me to the SSH bundle? It seems the link that all the site use for it is down. Thanks for the response by the way!
Never mind, I found it. Thanks!
None of that works. The first time I installed the SSH bundle viz redsn0w, it booted up without needing to be booted from redsn0w (like always) and Cydia had an icon, so I tried to open it. Surprisingly, it opened (I did not install the Cydia bundles or updates, just SSH), and then updated the sources and prompted me to update Cydia. So I did, and then it rebooted, and upon rebooting Cydia wouldn't open, it just did what it used to do, but it still had the Cydia icon and a badge with a 2 on it. So I tried to SSH into my iPod and it wouldn't let me, almost as if I hadn't installed the SSH bundle, even though I had. So I tried to install the bundle again, and no luck. I honestly don't understand what is going on.
I guess I'll just restore and try the whole shebang over again. Maybe I could downgrade to 4.1 since I backed up my blobs?
Okay, so downgrading didn't work. I guess my privlages aren't high enough to edit files in the /private/etc/ folder, even though I'm an admin, so I edited the /private/etc/hosts file through Terminal (replacing Apple's IP address with Cydia's, but iTunes couldn't connect to it. So whatever. I guess I'll just try to jailbreak on 4.2.1 ONE more time, and if it doesn't work then I'll just wait for the untethered jailbreak

If you've got your 4.1 blobs just run TU's TSS Server, then open iTunes and shift+restore to stock 4.1 and jb as normal. Might as well if 4.2.1 isn't working out for you.

You need to download another Redsn0w. Download redsn0w B7 at blog.iphone-dev.org/redsn0w
By the way are you on Mac OSX

I know a way to fix Cydia crashing on 4.2.1 Tethered Jailbreak. Follow my instructions:
1. Turn off your device. (yes it is tethered, but it will work)
2. Enter DFU mode (power for 3seconds, without letting go, hold home for 10 seconds, let go of power-button and keep holding home button. For detailed guides, use youtube or PM me)
3. DO NOT LET GO OF HOME BUTTON. Select 4.2.1 firmware in redsn0w, press next, when it asks you to install cydia and enable battery percentage, untick those and tick only 'Just boot tethered right now'
4. Click next, next, you have already entered DFU mode, so you don't need to follow instructions... A white screen and a pineapple logo is normal.
5. Cydia should stop crashing!
All i did was reboot your iPod, but since it was tethered (apple logo stuck at boot), then you need to reboot the hard way.
If this helped, can someone tell me how to get 4.2b3 shsh blobs on firmware 4.2.1 or 4.1? thanks
