I have a ipod touch 4g that is stuck in recovery mode with no shsh blobs saved because I bought it recently apple decided to stop signing iOS4.1. Am I able to jailbreak it to iOS 4.2.1?
It says that it is successfully jalbreaking and the rest of the process takes place on the ipod but as soon as I get to the runny pineapple it stops on "jailbreaking filesystem".
Yes I was running it under administrator, xp sp2, set affinity to cpu 1 and it still was stuck at that screen. I was reading the dev team blog and they said that you need to have shsh blob saved for 4.1 or older
You only need the 4.1 SHSH if you are trying to downgrade. If redsnow is still not working you may need to try another computer. It can be finicky at times.
Thanks for your your post on using itunes. I tried to restore my ipod by clicking on the restore button but that didn't work. Now it just hit me I was actually supposed to press "shift+left click" and then select the 4.2.1 firmware. now my ipod is unjailbroken and at least at a functional state. I think I can now jailbreak with redsn0w. Thanks again.
