    Default iPod touch 4.2.1 downgrade

My iPod was just recently upgraded to the newest version & I'm looking for the easiest way to downgrade/jailbreak. I spent about 3 hours trying to do this and basically none of the downloads worked. I'm a newbie to all of this & I don't feel the freedom all my friends have with their iPods/iPhones. Can someone explain this process to me? Thanks a lot

I think you can do that by pressing shift then click restore on iTunes then select the firmware you want?

You don't have your SHSH blobs saved so you can't downgrade. You can jb with Redsn0w 0.9.6b6 if you have any model iPod Touch except MC model 2G.

There is no jb for the MC model 2G iPT at this time.

If you don't have that device, you will have a tethered jb (you'll have to run Redsn0w on it everytime your device reboots or shuts off). The only iPT that is not tethered is the iPT 2G MB model.

You could actually have the SHSH blobs saved without knowing it. If you had your IPT jailbroken before you updated it, there is a chance you have some SHSH there.

I suggest downloading TinyUmbrella and plugging in your iPod. Once it's plugged in and TinyUmbrella recognizes it, click "Save SHSH". This will give you a list of the current SHSH blobs you have. Once you see what firmwares you have, those are the ones you may downgrade back too.

To downgrade you have to press "Start TSS server". This will edit your hosts file to read the TSS server and NOT Apples server during restore. You then shift+restore to a firmware that you have downloaded. You'll probably end the restore with a "1015 error". If this is the case then once your iPod goes back into recovery and TU recognizes it, click "Exit Recovery".

Your iPod touch should then reset itself and boot like a normal iPod. From here you can jailbreak using a variety of tools which will vary depending on the firmware you choose.

    Good luck and happy jailbreaking!
