3002 on 3194 errors when updating/restoring?
Hey guys...
I've been trying for a long time to upgrade my jailbroken 2nd Gen Ipod Touch.
Right now I have 3.0 firmware, and I want to upgrade to 4.0, but I NEED to do it manually (because I have dial-up internet), automatic updates take like 4 days for me. I have tried Shift+Restore and Shift+Updating both to 4.0 and the new 4.2.1 firmwares. However, when I use Shift+Update I get a 3002 error, and when I use Shift+Restore I get a 3194 error.
I am using the latest iTunes, and I have tried downgrading too. I can prepare and even verify the firmware, but right after, the errors occur...
Any Ideas???????

Error 3002
* Update to an older firmware isn't working, because Apple is no longer
handing out SHSHs for the device/firmware combination.
* Or a timeout checking Apple server – retry later.
* This error also happens if you try to Update with a local TSS
server (TinyUmbrella tool) and probably also when connecting to
Cydia Server. Use Restore instead.
Error 3014
False edited hosts. The SHSH request couldn't be completed. No connection to the Apple Server, Sauriks Server or localhost. iTunes can't connect to gs.apple.com. Maybe Port 80 and Port 443 is blocked. Open it on your router.

I'd say to just regularly restore your device with the normal restore button. That seems like the sensible solution if you've even tried upgrading to 4.2.1.

Apple no longer signs 3.0 firmware and therefore makes it impossible to restore your device unless you have your shsh blobs saved on cydia or tinyumbrella.
Do you know if you have your shsh's saved?

About the SHSH feed, is that fixed when you add "74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com" to the hosts file? (C
Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts)
I've already tried adding that at the end of the file and I get the exact same error messages...
Nope, doesnt work srryLast edited by 2nddimension; 12-04-2010 at 08:22 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

aslol...
4.2.1 requires no host file mod or Tiny Umbrella. What version are trying to load?

I am trying to downgrade from 4.2.1 to 4.1 because I am stuck at the recovery mode at 4.2.1 with the iPad baseband.

New model? If yes, likely a tethered jb and need Redsnow to 'boot tethered'. No other boxes checked.

Yes new model, yes tethered, but 4.2.1 does not work. Everytime I restore it with 4.2.1, it shows error 1015 and goes to recovery mode. I am unable to reboot it with Tiny Umbrella or Redsn0w.
I believe I need to downgrade to 4.1 then kick the phone out of recovery mode with Tiny Umbrella, but I have trouble doing that as it shows error 3194 when I try to downgrade, even thought I already edited the hosts file
