I was trying to upgrade/jailbeak my second generation iPod Touch with that program, however after every time I try to do so all it does is restart/reboot never goes to the home screen.

I can't even restore/update it to hack it with jailbreakme.

Can anyone help me please?

I got the IPSW from iPod, iPhone and iPad Firmware Download

The name of the file is iPod2,1_4.0_8A293_Restore.ipsw

Not sure if any of that is information not needed

It's not restoring cuz 1) you don't have your SHSHs for 4.0 or 2) you have your SHSHs, but you aren't running the TSS server during the restore

Upgrade to 4.1 and jailbreak with Greenpois0n.

Jeez do I feel embarrassed sorry for the bother I usually get a friend to screen share and do it for me.

Few follow up question will 4.1 slow down the iPod touch much? If so can I downgrade? Is Greenpois0n idiot proof?

4.1 will slow it down. You can try to disable the native multitask and wallpaper, but it will still lag a bit. I will probably downgrade my iPT 2G to 3.1.3, cuz I hate 4.1 on it. I love it on my iP4, but not on the iPT. The hardware of this device just can't handle the iOS as well.

But it's up to you. Every user has experienced problems with all jb tool, including Greenpois0n. There are no guarantees that Greenpois0n won't mess up, but it's simple to use.

Oh... No I don't know if you can downgrade. I can cuz mine is an MB model and I can use custom firmwares.

If you have an MB model, then you can too, but if you have MC then you can't.

Well super make sure it's an MB model. Once you upgrade, you can't come back down unless you have an MB model. So be aware of that...

Have you saved your SHSHs yet? If you haven't, you should do it asap.

Although I'll have to test it out. Haven't tried yet. Logically speaking, it should work on MB models. Tryna think if there are any stipulations like the 3GS. I don't think so tho will have to try sometime this week.

Aw cute. Actually can you access your springboard? And just go into settings then general and then About. Then see the model number if it starts with MB or MC. I actually have no idea what model the iBoot is.
