Why did I go to 4.0.2? Ugh!!

So I had my previous ipod touch jailbroken using blackra1n (few months ago) then got a smart phone and put the touch away and kind of forgot about it. Well I picked it up and wanted to use the untethered jailbreak, but accidentally upgraded to 4.0.2 (which I now realize was a mistake) and i've read that i can't jailbreak this firmware currently. my questions:
1. So is there any way to jailbreak this firmware? I didn't save the shsh thing.
2. My girlfriend has an ipod touch that hasn't been jailbroken, but is still on the old firmware, is there any way I can save the shsh off of this ipod and somehow transfer it to mine so i can downgrade?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, hopefully i'm not stuck with a locked down ipod touch.

That's exactly what i've been wondering. I backed up my SHSH with tinyumbrella and i was wondering if i can upload it so people can downgrade.

ya i didn't know if the shsh blobs were model specific or if I could use others shsh blobs and downgrade that way.

Yeah i don't think it's model specific. I have an SHSH blob in my tiny umbrella for 4.0

SHSH blobs are model specific. Which means each device has its own unique ecid. You won't be able to jailbreak until a new jailbreak is released. Make sure to save your blobs this time. cheers

ya i have 4.0.2, but have no idea how to see what firmware the other ipod has.

so technically I could jailbreak her ipod and give her mine since she doesn't know what jailbreaking is anyways.
Just checked her ipod and she is still on 3.1.3.

Sucks though. Last time I used my ipod touch there was no need to save shsh blobs, shows how long the ipod has been sitting in my drawer.lol

LOL, yeah go to jailbreakme.com on your ipod's safari browser (the one with 3.1.3 firmware) and it'll jealbreak right from your ipod.

sweet, seems that everytime i try to go to jailbreakme.com the installer crashes, might have something to do with my internet connection, will be trying again later when I have more time, I have psx emulator running on my Droid phone so I'm familiar with setting it up as long as there are no other tricky steps to getting it going.

Yeah same thing happens to my friend, he's 3.1.3 too. I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

go to general, safari, clear cache,history, cookies and reboot after that. Enter safari again go to Jailbreakme.com and try again. Hope it helps.

If that doesn't work i recommend you watch this video YouTube - How-To Spirit Jailbreak 3.1.3/3.1.2 All iPod Touches and iPhones on Windows/ Mac I'm sure it'll help you out.

ok so even after trying to clear cookies, cache, etc... when i try to go to jailbreakme.com it just goes straight back to my touch homescreen. Nothing even tried to happen.lol guess i'll try spirit.

Have to agree, Spirit is still the easiest and most efficient jailbreak i ever used.
