1st Gen Ipod Touch Question

Is it possible to upgrade a 1st gen Ipod Touch past the 2.2.1? I've searched this forum and can't find any suggestions.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Then if on windows go into iTunes click shift+Check for updates and choose ur downloaded firmware and yay for you! If on mac do same except option+check for updates.
