Downgrading From 4.0 to 3.1.3 or 3.1.2 Error 28 and 3194
I just upgraded my 2nd gen MC model 8gb ipod touch to iOS4, and want to downgrade to either 3.1.2 or 3.1.3 to jailbreak. Whenever I try to downgrade to 3.1.2 I get the error 28. When ever I downgrade to 3.1.3 I get the error 3194. I have modified the host file and it does nothing. Any suggestions?
Triple check you have the correct firmware? Not sure why you need to modify the host file? You cannot use 3.1.3 it is not signed by Apple. You need to go back to 3.1.2 If you have downloaded the 3.1.2 file, open itunes and DFU your ipod touch. When it says you need to restore etc hold down your shift key as you press restore. It opens a box that you can browse to the 3.1.2 file. Error 28 "may" mean hardware problem. Consider a different usb port. Check cable etc. When does the error happen.
Thanks and I'm positive I have the correct firmware. I the process it goes back and forth with preparing ipod for restore and veryfying restore with apple. Then it happens. Thanks
If it was myself with this problem, i would start from scratch. Reinstall ios4. Let it start etc. DFU. Straight to 3.1.2 useing the 3.1.2 you downloaded. Still not sure about "I have modified the host file and it does nothing" I would put whatever was changed back to standard. Treat it as you are starting procedure from new. Hope that helps
