I can code (iPhone/iPod) but I need to know how to decrypt the firmware,
Then I may be able to look around and find a possible jailbreak!

hi,i know for a fact that i am posting on the wrong topic but just bare with me, ok i have ipod 3g jailbroken with blackrain with firmware 3.1.2 and i've tried everything in my knowledge to upgrade my ipod 3g firmware 3.1.2 to 3.1.3 which i cant anymore, because if i were to restore it in itunes, it will automatically restore and install firmware 4.0 which i dont want because if it does that then i wont be able to downgrade which im pretty sure i cant because its a 3g 32gb MC model. So please, anyone if you know how to upgrade 3.1.2 to 3.1.3, let me know, because most of the apps in ********** requires 3.1.3, and i want to update my firmware but i dont know how to.I've tried everyting, hold shift restore with 3.1.3 firmware, it gave me an error message and etc.

Unfortunately, at this time, the iPod Touch 2G (MC Model) cannot be downgraded without the SHSH Blobs on file. This means that if you haven't previously saved your SHSH Blobs on 3.1.2 then you cannot jailbreak at the minute.

It would appear we'll be seeing the new jailbreak for 4.0 very soon, as @comex has announced it is completed - I suspect he is waiting for the 4.1 update (so that Apple can't fix the exploit).

If you do have the SHSH Blobs on file, you need to downgrade the iPod to 3.1.2 and then jailbreak using Snowbreeze 1.7.

I would recommend waiting for the new jailbreak as it will likely be a one-click solution similar to Spirit, and as such will involve less hassle than the Snowbreeze method available at the minute.

    Owen, thanks for the information.
Another question, the new jailbreak coming out, will it be tethered or un-thetered?

    No problem!

As far as I know there has been no official word on whether it will be tethered or un-tethered. However, comex developed the Spirit jailbreak which was untethered for all devices. Based on the fact that this new jailbreak will be a sort of "Spirit V2" I am hoping it will be untethered.

    Hope this helps

Ok, so will the @comex jb work on MC models w/ 4.0 as well as the other models and does tethered mean plugged into your computer via the USB?

I think tethered is if you turn your iDevice off its un-jailbroken, it removes cydia and stuff.
    untethered doesnt.

tethered for ipod means that if the unit turns off you will need your computer or someones computer to turn the unit back on for use. otherwise it only shows you the screen when u first buy the ipod. Your item is still jailbroke if you turn it off if it is tethered(you dont lose anything) you just have to run it through the program to unlock it if you turn it off but i think this is a thing of the past for now
