"The ipod you connected may be damaged and cannot be verified properly" message

i have this ipod touch 1G with v 1.1.2
i tried downgrading it to v 1.1.1 this afternoon and now when i connect it to my laptop and open itunes the message "There is a problem with your ipod. We're sorry. the ipod you connected may be damaged and cannot be verified properly"

what should i do whit this???

try puting your ipod touch into dfu and restore it again to 1.1.1

I know exactly how to fix this. Disconnect your computer from the internet then plug the iPod into the computer and open up iTunes. This happened to me with my old iPod Touch.
