Need help! please! jailbreaking but itunes wont recognize!
I have vista, itunes 9, and ipod touch 1g 1.1.5 i downloaded firmware and redsn0w but when i put my ipos in dfu mode and then when it starts up again after the process my itunes says its not working and to reconnect it, and thats the only way i can do it. and when i try restoring it using shift+ click i cant locate the files. i think i have .zip but even when i change it to .ipsw it still doesnt work, and my web browser wont read any of .ipsw, the icon that kind of looks like a cube with the music note and ipod wont show up theres just a file and when i click it, it leads to nothing in the end. Also when i do the redsn0w thing first, i cant select anything when it says brows . I heard something about firefox? how do i use that for ipod jailbreaking? is there something i can do to fix this mess? please! i am very lost, as you can see, thank you soo much (L)

try this.......
XP or Vista. you need to open "My Computer"
XP - go to the top menu and select options > Folder Options
Vista - Top left button that says Organize > Folder and Search Options
In that window you need to click the " VIEW " tab on top.
NEED TO SELECT “SHOW HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS "
Then unclick the option to " hide protected operating system files "
Once that's done click "apply" then ok and exit out of the window.

you sure you have the right fw? it has to have the .ipsw extension not .zip.
Unzip the folder to see if the ipsw is there...then shift/restore to locate it.

it does say .ipsw, okay so this is what i did, first i hit shift click restore, then i opened iPod1,1_1.1.5_4B1_Restore.ipsw then inside was firmware.ipsw, then i had the option of all_flash and dfu, and i clicked both but they all led to "no items match your search" can you tell me where to do and exactly how to do it

try this...put the actual ipsw on the desktop. In itunes shift click restore...then go to the desktop and choose the ipsw and hit ok. Try that. dont click on nothing else.
