Question on Jailbreaking

Well already know how to jailbreak an ipod 2g on 3.0 but my friend has a 2g that is still running 2.2.1 i was wondering

1. can it be jailbroken while running 2.2.1, If Yes then how cause redsnow won't work

2. can i jailbreak his ipod(remember running 2.2.1) with 3.0 ipsw would that work because there is no way for him to update to 3.0 unless he updates to 3.1 which is still unjailbreakable

Please Guide Me

1. Yes, but use quickpwn.
2. yes. Download the 3.0 ipsw and shift+restore to it. Then jailbreak with redsn0w.

thanks for the reply but two more things

1. which is the better way to do it

2. what do you shift+restore(also i already have the 3.0 ipsw for my ipod)

1. you mean the firmware? It depends on if he wants the new features of 3.0 or not.
2. In itunes when you plug your phone in, go to the iPhone page in iTunes. Hold down shift (or option if you're in OS X) and click on Restore. A browser window will show up and just select 3.0
iPods and iPhones use different firmware files. You're going to have to download a new one.
