HELP !!!!! [ jailbroke ipod touch 2.2.1 doesn't wanna restore ]

Heyy guys !
well i have a jailbroken ipod touch [ 2.2.1 ] and i jailbroke it a while ago. now i have cydia. i turned it off and it didnt wanna turn back on but i fixed that by holding the power and home button. i reboot it but it didnt quite work because when it does work it shows me the itunes restore thingy that has the picture of the itunes desktop loggo and the cable that ur supposed to connect it to. I TRIED RESTORING IT BUT IT DOESNT WORK!
it says that theres an error!
HOW COULD I RESTORE IT !!!

Turn the device off again, put it into DFU mode.

If you don't know, to get into DFU:
1. Turn the device off
2. Hold the Home and Power buttons for 10 seconds exactly
3. Remove finger from Power button but continue to hold the Home button until it is detected by the computer (screen will be black)
4. Restore
