If you want to make modifications to files:

Try putting it into Restore or DFU mode.
Restore:
-Hold Home button for at least 10 sec until a picture appears of iTunes and a USB pointing at the picutre
DFU:
-Hold the Power and Hold buttons for exactly 10 seconds
-Release the Power button but continue to hold the Home button until it is read by the computer. The screen should be black.

Another way is to just hold the Home Button while you plug in USB then keep holding Home and the iPod turns(after 5 sec)into DFU mode.

Hi,
I got two of my friends itouch messed up while jailbreaking..
Both of them are 1.1.5 same versions.
iTouch 1.
Error-
'Singleuser boot -- fsck not done
Root device is mounted read-only
If you want to make modifications to files:
/sbin/fsck -fy
/sbin/mount -uw /
If you wish to boot the system:
exit
#'
I tried holding the Power button and Home button at sametime till the screen turns black. And it works but when I turn it back on, theres the same msg.. I tried this while it was connected to my mac too.
iTouch 2 Error-
Turn it on, thers the apple logo,
and than a whole list of scripts comes up on screen,
AppleMRVL868x: marvel-debug=0xc8
AppleMRVL868x: marvell-feature-flags=0xf
AppleMRVL868x: marvell-powersave-timeout=0
...
...
...
and then shows my Firmware Version: x.xxx.x.xx (x.xxxxxx) etc.,
Then the I/O version, hardware version and mac address.
I tried doing the 'hold Power and Space button till screen turns black' method again with and without plugged in to my mac..
Both iTouch will result in same, turn back on and same error msg.. its in loop.. any help?

I did try googling it for about an hour and it was rather confusing -.-.....
Found it in some other forum,
Close your itune, open it again, connect your itouch to your mac/computer and then you are to HOLD the Power AND the Space Button at the same time untill your screen goes black (off), and then let go of the Power button but continue holding the Space button. About 5~10 seconds later, you'll have an icon poping up that says your itouch is connected to your mac/computer.
Wait abit and your itune will read your itouch. Then you can restore (auto downloads restoring file, and such, takes about 5~10 minutes at most, be patient with it).
**Your iTouch will be wiped**
**I recommand you NOT taking your itouch to Apples if you got warrents, because this will not be covered under your warrents due to ur attempt of 'hacking' their product.**
