Installer Crashing

Im currently on 2.1 firmware but everytime I open installer it crashes. Ive heard about alot of things you can do with putty and 1.1.4 but they do not work with 2.1. I heard you can change the permissions using WinScp so if you know how to do this or any thing else please post!

Why not use Cydia, whats on installer that you really need?

I rarely use installer but I still want it working even though I barely use it.

After you upgraded to 2.1 you need to set up the phone as NEW in iTunes... not from back-up. I suggest restoring to firmware 2.2 and quickpwn to jailbreak it.

Its been working for months before though on 2.1 just stopped the other day :S

Well things just don't randomly stop working. Installer works great for me so I know it's not an app issue. You mst have done something. If you can't figure it out then you'll have to restore and start all over and retrace your steps better.

The only thing that I have installed or changed lately is probably a theme and I already deleted it so I dont know what it is.

Just dont use installer. There is nothing, absolutely nothing on there that you cant find in Cydia.
