iPod Touch 2.0.1 Refuses To Be Pwnd

I downloaded 2.0.1

Built my custom firmware

Pwnd iTunes

And I have tried putting my iPod into DFU mode the following ways

1. Hold power and home 10 seconds, hold home until iTunes detects

2. Hold home and power till screen turns black, hold home and plug in USB, hold home till iTunes detects

What am I doing wrong?

Seems my problem was I was waiting for the logo to appear before I released the power button.
