can someone answer a quick question?

i got a JB 1.1.2 ipod and have seen lots of people going down to 1.1.1. prior to doing the 1.1.3 JB. (i know it says is not necessary but i guess this just makes it clean and frees up all the space right?)

so the question is, to get back to 1.1.1 from a JB 1.1.2 can you do the shift+UPDATE trick that you do with the OTB 1.1.2 OR do you have to do the 2 button hold down and then RESTORE
