Default Turn iPhone into iPod Touch?

Nevermind. This isn't needed. It picks up wifi w/o a SIM.

I have taken sims in and out of my iPhone quite a few times while transferring from my old mobile to iPhone and then getting a new contract sim to get edge working. Sometimes when pushing the sim tray back in there is quite strong resistance for the last little bit - normally I remove it and re-try a few times and in the end it just clicks into place, I doubt you have got something in there while the tray was out.

If you insist on using the iPhone as iPod touch why not pwn it and install an iPod Touch firmware instead of an iPhone one - this way it will just think it is an iPod and not look for the sim card you can't insert. I have no idea if anyone has tried this or if it will work, but you don't seem to have anything to loose!

Works for me. I'll try it.

And trust me, this isn't normal resistance. I'm very mechanically inclined. This is a physical issue.
