Sound output on iphone versus ipod (My views)!
Hi all..
This is my first post here having just "upgraded" to an iphone from my ipod touch..
I was heavily into modding that - very nice machine..
Bottom line -it suffers from terrible sound quality..
I am happy to say i was able to carry out a direct A/B comparison with 1.1.2 firmware on both devices and same headphones in my ears - just swapping units..
There is a HUGE difference in quality...
I have the ipod running jailbroken iphone apps 1.1.2 just fine.. The iphone itself I am still waiting to clear up a few issues I have read about - namely visual voicemail - or rather lack of it after the update process..
The iphone has much more *balls for want of an expression in its output - its just more meatier - the ipod output sounds strained and weak in comparison..
The iphone output is also MUCH more clearer - vocals really shine and stand out..
Hard to describe in words but there is a definate change.. The ipod is also louder -although that doesn't automatically make its output better - happy to report it is better though...
In short, its as if the output amps on the iphone have more capacity and power built into them, whereas the ipod touch sounds lower powered and strained amplifier wise..
Sound quality is simply far superior on the iphone..Last edited by mrplant; 11-15-2007 at 03:53 PM.
