The reason I'm not posting this question in a more specific section, is because I don't exactly know what the problem is. I only know the symptoms.

When my iPod 4's volume is turned down too low, it doesn't work very well. It's muffled, and sounds far away. As I turn the volume up, there doesn't seem to be any chance. However, when I turn it up far enough, the volume starts working perfectly fine. The problem is, the quietest volume that works, is still a little bit too loud. I guess this is a hardware problem? Is there a way I can fix it on a software level? I'm jailbroken. The only thing I can think of, is getting headphones that I can control the volume on.
