This is normal on iPod touch...they have very low ram, it gets even slower if you have a lot of cydia tweaks installed.
It also depends on your iPod generation

Some tweaks really make it slower like Dreamboard or Spire or vwallpaper

What other tweaks affect the speed by quite a lot? Most of what I have on my iPod is only small tweaks so I thought I'd be fine, but apps are always crashing on me :/ thanks for any help!

Dreamboard is a bad one for sure.

I'just got rid of it thanks I lost all my themes when I updated to the untethered and I've stopped using it while trying to make my own winterboard theme. Despite not using it, uninstalling it save 10-15MB on my available memory!
Any others I should be wary of? I expect winterboard would be on the list but that's not going anywhere!

Winterboard isn't that bad. Just don't download to many tweaks and ya should be good

Ok, I'll have a clear out of the things I don't need. (will take a while though because I can't queue too much in Cydia because it crashes!) Thanks for the help

Ya welcome bud. Hope it helps

Cleaning up your cached files is also good to do. It frees up your memory quite a bit. iCleaner, and CUC (Clean Up Crap) do a good job of it. (CUC is a Terminal package)

It also helps to remove unused language packs. I'm pretty sure there's a thread out there about doing that. I do it every time I restore/upgrade my iPhone, and whenever I install new apps.

Yah I think there's a tweak meant just for that. It's on the repos that we can't mention though :/
06-12-2012, 05:43 PM #16
Not entirely lol. I was referring to a thread we have on MMi.
06-12-2012, 06:19 PM #17
Oh lol. I'm still trying to remember the name... It's like cache cleaner or something.

Language packs fill up flash (storage space) not ram (working memory). Removing them gives you more room for putting more media, but won't make your device run faster.
Winterboard themes and tweaks can potentially fill up both.

The jailbreak itself uses up a lot
