it does nothing i dont even know if im doing dfu mode right is that where u hold power and home etc yeah it does nothing

Let's try recovery mode instead. Do you have SHSHs saved for 5.0.1? If you don't, you have to upgrade to 5.1.

Hold the home and power button while the device is ON
When the screen goes black, release the power button and hold home
After a while, you should get the itunes+USB screen, this is recovery mode

hi again i tried doing the recovery mode sequence,and it is still showimg white screen..

So when you hold home and power for an extended period of time, it never shuts down?

Were your home and power buttons working before this happened.

yes my home and power buttons were working and it does not shut down,it just stays white screen after doing the home and power button sequence after exteneded period of time

I can't imagine what the problem can be that it cannot shut off. You might need to let the battery drain. Then attempt DFU after. I'll do some research on this.

What did you do before the white screen issue occurred?

i was just using safari searching a website to see the weather in my area more the rain satelite forcast i know stupid,lol \

ok now it has powered down on its own and just has low battery symbol now what do i do

Plug it in to the wall and attempt dfu mode on it. Sorry I gotta go though, sleep. I threw the other mods a PM so hopefully they stop by to help you tonight.

@i Annie. I let it power down completely until it went black and had the low battery icon. Then plugged the USB charger cord into device and into wall plug. And waited a few moments to let it get a little charge and all if a sudden the apple icon came on. Then the enter password screen (cuz I have my device password protected) I entered password and it went right to my springboard.

It was a success IANnie. I thank you so much for your help. And staying around to answer my posts. Even though I didn't give a lot of info in the posts. You can close this thread and lock it. Or sticky it. Smiles.

I'm so glad it worked out and was so simple. It would've sucked to have to do more work lol. The white screen typically isn't a good sign but for you it wasn't too bad.
