Remap Volume Buttons to Power On/Off iPod Touch 2g?

Hey guys so my friend's power button broke on her iPod Touch 2G and I'm trying to fix it through software because I don't want to disassemble it unless I have to. I plan to at least jailbreak it so she can have a virtual power button to turn the iPod off. The problem now that remains is powering it back on because we all know software can"t help you there. Does anyone know if there is a tweak to remap the buttons on the iPod Touch 2G, or if anyone knows where I can manually remap the buttons in the SDK, that'd be great. I thought of the volume buttons so up would be on, and down would be off. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I think your SOL. Not to mention that I'm not sure how you're going to jailbreak it without a power button.
