    Default ipod touch repair

    Hey guys,
about a year ago my friend left my window down on a 4th of July celebration and, well it rained that night. Unfortunately my iPod 32 GB (2G) was sitting on the passenger side of my car and got severely water damaged. I tried putting it in rice and all that jazz. for sentimental reasons I kept it of course.

Recently I bought another iPod 8gb (2G) and I was wondering what really gets damaged with water that I might be able to swap out the 8gb part to replace the one in my 32 so maybe it could once again see the light of day?

Yes Apple had a 8, 16, and 32GB at the time.

When I was trying to dry it the first time I popped off the glass and cracked it pretty bad. Would I be able to just swap the HDDs and have everything back like it was or did the water do a number to that too? lol

It probably killed your HDD if it got severely damaged.

You're beter off with the 8 GB

iPod touches don't have hard drives, they use flash memory. And as for the post, You would probably have to replace all of the internal components. The motherboard probably shorted when it got wet, the battery probably didn't survive either, and lcd screens don't like water too much. Plus you broke the digitizer so that would need to be replaced too. You're better off keeping your 8Gb, fixing it would be so much of a pain and so expensive it would be about the same price to just buy a new one. Plus the 4th gens are so much nicer anyway.

Yea dude just get a iPod 4g seriously. There's no point paying more to recover a older one
