Restoring iPhone 4 back to 4.2.1 (from 4.2.1), just doesnt want to work!!?
Info:
- iPhone 4 ran 4.2.1 with shshs saved
- using tiny umbrella
- tethering ipod touch wifi connection through usb via PDAnet
- Hosts set to Sauriks Server
I always get the error "The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occured (1013)." just after it nears 70% and says "Restoring iPhone Software"
I tried using only the host file trick without TinyUmbrella but I get a 3194 error..
Can someone please help me?? Its really important that I get it working soon!
What I tried:
- Restarting PC, and also iTunes
- Using TinyUmbrella method and Hosts file method
- Recovery mode, and also DFU mode (same error)
************ FOUND A FIX **************
After an hour and 40 minutes of STRAIGHT UP searching, searching and searching.. I found something that works!
1. Download Redsnow
2. Run it, Follow the instructions (select your stock ipsw)
- NOTE: When it says "make sure the device is off" I just pressed the power button, waited for it to turn black and then clicked next (even though I knew it would turn on seconds later)
3. Follow the instructions to get into DFU
4. Wait for it to do its magic (it took a long time for mine, it got stuck in a loop showing the "pinapple" but I waited about 40 mins and it popped out of it, I suggest if this happens, wait as long as it takes"
5. It will probably show the "Connect to Itunes" screen, If so, Run TinyUmbrella and press "Exit Recovery"
This method worked for me, but I cant guarantee it will work for you.
