iTunes restore function??

Hey, my ipod is pretty messed up right now.. so I am restoring it.
But I don't want to lose progress on my games and stuff...
if I use the backup that I make before I restore, and use that backup on the new ipod, will my ipod go back to the messed up version? Or since it's just iTunes, will backup only bring back my app status and stuff?

Its kind of hit or miss with that. You may not experience issues restoring from your backup but there is definitely a good chance the backup will bring back some issues.

true that i've heard of lots of people having problems restoring from a jailbreak back up, instead of setting up as new phone.

i had to restore from backup as when i set it up as new the phone would not connect to my carrier (telus) or give me my phone number back. when i restored from a back up, i got everything back.
