Thread: Screwed up iTouch.

Screwed up iTouch.
Here's my question. I have the old backup files (.shsh & .BAK) from my iPod before it blew up. How do I use these to put it back to the old firmware? I don't want 4.2.1, and I really want my old iPod touch back.

If you've got SHSHs for the firmware you want to go to, you can run the TSS server in TinyUmbrella then shift+restore to the stock fw you want. Then you can jb as normal.

That's why you should check to see if you even have SHSHs to downgrade with. You probably don't that's why you're getting errors.

I do have them. I used TinyUmbrella to get them a few days before it had to be restored.
EDIT:
Is this what the TinyUmbrella logs are supposed to look like?

It says 1 SHSH file found... It doesn't say which one.
If you didn't save your SHSHs like two months ago, you won't have 4.1. Chances are that 1 file you have is 4.2.1. Click Save SHSH and then click display SHSH and see what you have.

SHSHs aren't based on what firmware you're on. They can only be saved at the time Apple is signing them.
If you didn't save them like about two months ago, you won't have SHSHs below 4.2.1.

If you don't have SHSHs saved, you can't downgrade regardless of which method you want to go about with it.
Redsn0w doesn't downgrade/upgrade, it jailbreaks.
And Cydia has nothing to do with it either.

Not forever, just until a new jb is released. Did you not want 4.2.1 because it is tethered?

Well unfortunately that's just where you're stuck at. Maybe next month the untethered jb will come out.

Lol ok, not sure how far you'll get with asking Apple for any help.

What the hell is he talking about. There's only 2 jailbreaks and they're both tethered. I told you Apple doesn't help anything.

Yea, but I'm more shocked Apple is letting me Jailbreak. According to her, they didn't remove Jailbreaking on 4.2
My parents are freaking saying that "lol she's apple manager she knows jailbreaks"
God. Anyone know what time GreenPois0n will be ported to 4.2.1, or a good estimate?

I'd say next month for untethered. But that's not confirmed, just an estimate.
