Ipod Touch 3g stuck on black screen

OK, any help with this would be appreciated. I have a 3G Ipod touch that I jailbroke with Blackra1n and it had been working perfectly until earlier today when I went to use it and it stayed on a black screen. I thought the battery had just died, but I got nothing when I hooked it up to the cpu. I've tried holding both the power and home buttons for a while and nothing. Holding both of them and then releasing the power button allows it to be seen by itunes but when I try to restore I get an error 1601.

Any help would be appreciated. I don't care if I lose the jailbreak anymore, just want my ipod to function again.

Tried that with both the home and the power button and the screen never turns on with either option.

As an update, I can get it to where itunes says that an ipod is connected that needs to be restored and then when I hit resore it gets to the point of saying preparing ipod for restore then I here the sound of a usb device being disconnected. I opened device manager and found that it is the ipod that is disconnecting itself at that point and not allowing itself to be restored.
