Forgotten Password

My sister has an iPod touch that she set a password for, but forgot. I know there is a way to unlock it by going into the hidden files and changing it from 'lock' to 'unlock', but I can't seem to get it to mount. I can see/edit it from iTunes, but I can't see it as a hard drive. Also tried on a Mac and couldn't find it.

Info on iPod:
-Latest gen
-3.1.3 jailbroken with blackra1n
-don't want to restore because apps will be lost.

The apps wont be lost if they were bought from the app store. Sync in iTunes to back them all up then restore.

Youll probably need SHSHs tho... Dont know if you have those. If you dont youll be forced up to 4.0.2 which isnt good...

Well the point is to take off the password without losing all the apps, not backed up. What I really need to know is how to get it to show up as a clickable hard drive.

Well, my point was, you cant prevent that. The only way to remove a forgotten password is to restore (if you even can).

You can try SSHing into the phone and removing strings and whatnot, but from all the time Ive been here Ive never seen this problem solved without a restore.

If anybody would like to correct me, I dont mind. I just never have seen this password lock removef without OP ending up restoring anyway.

how? follow steps carefully..

1.download iphone browser here! SetupiPhoneBrowser.1.81.rar

2.install iphone browser

3.connect iphone to computer

4.open your iphone bowser and navigate to var folder

5.open var folder and navigate to keychains

6.open keychains folder and delete keychain-2.bd file

8.reboot iphone passcode or disabled massage should be gone..
