iPod Touch 1G Dies

I hit the power button and it boots to the boot logo then dies.
An obvious solution is to plug it in, duh, but it does the same exact thing. Is there anyway I can save it? Any way I can save the data for a new iTouch?

well i think data is gone but not the ipod try the DFU mode and restore

But the thing is, whenever I connect it to anything, i.e. a computer, it dies before it is recognized by the computer.
