Default "Other" on iPod taking up 4.67GB

I'm trying to sync my iPod with iTunes but the "Other" section is taking up too much space for my iPod to do anything else. I tried getting rid of some apps, but the "Other" just grew to fill in the space. What's going on with it? Do I have to restore it? I don't really want to lose all of the cydia stuff I downloaded already. Thanks

I don't save any of the Safari downloads. And I have maybe like 5 cydia apps.

Try taking everything off and then if the other grows to fill the whole of the space on your iPod, you will probably need to restore.
Get aptbackup or something like that from cydia if you can to back up your cydia apps so it automatically downloads them when you rejailbreak and redownload aptbackup.

Also increasing your root partition will show up as other, so for example if you give yourself a 1gb root partition than you just lost 1gb to "other" regardless of weather or not it is filled.

If you wanna thank me hit "Thanks" in the lower right of my post. If you think that I am a useless git feel free to say so.

I've seen this, and read of it before.
    1.reboot your ipod.
    2. Get into Cydia and remove rock. (use cydia or blackrain)
    3. you should a application like iFile or something and remove the RYP folder from var/mobile/Library/RYP or SSH into your device. The problem is that the app "Rock" makes a huge multigigabyte file for most people. The file is in var/mobile/library/ryp/logs/"

Hope this can be a solution to your memory problem .

Rock is not always to blame. I had over 6gb of other and my entire RYP (rock folder) was less then 1MB. My issue was that for some reason my iphone/itunes decided to copy all of my apps that were already installed back to my iphone. Problem was itunes sync would fail. After some hunting around on my iphone I found that in /private/var/mobile/Media/PublicStaging were copies of all of my already installed apps. I deleted everything in this folder and got my 6GB back.
