Help with backup!!
I had to reformat my PC so I lost my iPod Touch backup. I want to do a new one in another PC but I have some questions:
If I sync it with iTunes, will it transfer all the applications I have on my iPod and/or will it at least do a security copy (backup)?
Are there any 3rd parties programs who can do a complete backup of my iPod?
If I jailbreak my iPod, what should I copy from there to do a complete backup (so I donīt lose my saved application data)?
If I sync my iPod to iTunes, and then I put that copied files in their right place, sync it again and do a restore to a non-jailbroken firmware, will I still have what I copied when it was jailbroken?
They might be strange questions, but I really need to know that.
I have an iPod Touch 2G
Thanks in advance

well here is what you do:
for itunes apps:
-download itunes
-open itunes, log in to your apple account
-click store tab at the top, click authorize computer
-right click ipod on the left, transfer purchases.
For your music/videos:
apple made it much harder then other ipods to backup your songs/videos -.-
-download afc2add(ssh via usb), Open SSH(for wifi ssh) from Rock.
-get a program to ssh with, varies on wifi, usb, computer
-after you have that, ssh into your ipod. go to /var/mobile/media/itunes_control/Music
copy that whole folder full of folders names f00-f49 to your computer. Then open those up and open the music/video fiules with itunes and they will be in your itunes library with correct names and ect.
(tip open a folder, hit alt+a then right click a file and open, that will open everything at same time so its faster)
or you can probably pay money for some program to do this.OpenFient/Any other gametype: JBone1337

Thanks man, but now, how do I do the backup that iTunes does? Because I donīt want to lose he info I have on the apps.
Another question; when I right-click on my device in iTunes there is an option called Backup, if I press that will it do a normal Backup and I wont lose anything or I will lose everything?

Pressing that will make a backup file on your computer for in case you need to restore.
cant really say from personal experience, i have had my itouch 3g for only like 1 month, and jailbroken for 3weeks. Have yet to come across a problem where i have to restore ect.
but i have heard the itunes backup does and does not backup game saves/settings, not sure.
but you could try right clicking ipod and click backup, then restore from back up to test it lol
You could also download appbackup from rock. its supposed to save all game saves/settings.Last edited by jbone1337; 02-07-2010 at 02:26 PM.
