1st Gen Touch Problem
I have had the touch for a few years now and have now just starting experiencing issues. I am finding myself charging the device a few times a week and obviously wonder if this is a known issue that they start to break down after awhile or there could be something more to it....Anyone have any ideas?

Was this before or after you did something in particular?
On the contrary, if you've had it for a few years now, surely the battery would degrade after a while...you can consider having the battery changed.

Nothing in particular, I mean I took on the local train to head into Boston for a job interview listened and then came home and searched on facebook and then called it a day. Then I went to take it with me in car to listen to and the battery was at 2%....I may look into just upgrading to a 2nd generation.

How long did the battery previously last?
If you can get the battery changed, then do so. Otherwise, an upgrade is probably due (maybe the iPad)?

Okay where and how do I get the battery changed? After all its jailbroken so I can assume I cant just walk into an apple store and have them do that...I dont think I am in the market for the iPad right now. I dont doubt its a sweet device...Just need a mp3 player
It would usually last a couple of days as I would mainly take it with me on the train to go to work and then come home using it the same way. Maybe it would be time for me to upgrade...Do they not sell the 2nd generation iPod Touches anymore?Last edited by sparker781; 01-30-2010 at 11:05 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

You can simply restore to factory settings using itunes and then take it to an Apple store. It should be fine especially as it'll have the latest firmware.
If you don't want to go through this hassle, then just get a new device.
