Ipod Touch stuck in restore mode after jailbreak...
Hey folks! So i've searched online over and over again looking for a solution to fix my poor ipod. Its a 16gig, 2G ipod touch that I jailbroke awhile back. I dont remember what I used to jailbreak it, and I don't remember what version, but I don't thing that's important. The point is, It's stuck in restore mode.
Every time I go into itunes after plugging it in, I get a message telling me I have to restore it, the restore begins, and halfway thought, stops and I get this error message that I uploaded in this post.
I can't seem to put it into DFU mode, the ipod simply stays on the screen with the USB cord pointing at the "iTunes" logo.
I don't know what to do to fix it, I can't bring it to apple, I can't return it to wal-mart because they stopped selling the 16gig for some reason and sure enough I lack a recipet.
Please tell me what I should do... I'm sure 100 diffrent people have the same problem and bug everyone on the forums all day, if so i'm sorry. I really have a hard time navigating this forum because everything board seems to be the same to me.
If i'm posting in the wrong spot, kindly move me please. And again sorry in advance!

What firmware are you trying to restore to?

If you wanna thank me hit "Thanks" in the lower right of my post. If you think that I am a useless git feel free to say so.

Try putting it in recovery instead of DFU, and use a firmware you have already downoaded.

No, it IS in recovery, and it's stuck there. So stuck that I can't even put it in DFU mode.

do u have xp or windows vista
if u have xp do this
go to
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates and delete files that end with .ipsw
if u have vista go to
C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates and delete the files that end with .ipswLast edited by battlecrushr; 01-21-2010 at 06:34 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

I think that's a hidden folder. Google how to unhide folders in Win 7 and then you should see the folder.

Ok so I got into the "Appdata" section and under the "iphone (or ipod) software updates, there is only one thing, that it doesn't end in .ispw
All that's in there, is the ipod restore file.

Why? That was the update I downloaded in order to restore the ipod in the first place... If I delete it, its just going to put it back when I try to restore it again...

I dont think you guys understand... I've tried this, i've tried all these things.
Yesterday I brought it to a friend of mine, he fixed it by downloading a 3.0 firmware on to it. but today I was using it, it froze, and its back in restore mode. I'm not sure if i'll be able to get it out.
