Random reboots, then recovery mode, but it recovers (?)
Hi all - I was on the hunt for a broken iPod stuck in recovery mode - I found one and it was a gamble to see if it would come out, or if I was going to use it for parts.
After a little research, I was able to fix the problem by doing a DFU restore - I ran it for a while, loaded some music and some apps...but then it suddenly rebooted and came back to the recovery screen.
I ended up doing another DFU recovery, and then it did the same thing again, expect this time, I waited a little bit and did a DFU reset (home+power -> home for 10 sec.) and the darn thing came back up fine like nothing happended.
When I plugged it back into iTunes it wanted to dump some kind of diagnostic info to Apple.
So, I wonder if there is some way to grab that file and decipher it, or run more advanced diagnostics on the flash memory or the hardware, or if this is a 3.1.x software glitch on the 1G iPod Touch.
Any thoughts?
Well, 43 views and nuthin. Hm well, I was hoping someone would chime in

Lol, ok 100 views and nothing. I'll assume there are no 'real' diagnostics for the iPod touch.
Thanks all.32GB iPod Touch 1G

There arent any real diagnostics on an ipod that anyone can distrubute. However if you hit "show details" on the send to apple notification you are privileged to some plst files that will show you the source of the problem.

If you wanna thank me hit "Thanks" in the lower right of my post. If you think that I am a useless git feel free to say so.

Frostbite, thanks for the reply!
I Wish there was something to really dig into the hardware/software...but anyway...the show details may be enough if/when it goes belly up again.
Well, a few days ago I ended up doing another DFU restore, then used blackra1n to jailbreak it, and so far *crosses fingers* no reboots. Possibly something (bad sector or write etc.) in the flash RAM that needed to be overwritten.
Thank you again!32GB iPod Touch 1G

Ya it doesnt suprise me that Blackra1n rebooted it, thats one of my favorite features of the app, it reboots the device no matter what. Sorry I didnt mention it earlier it hadnt crossed my mind.
