iPod Touch won't turn on

Last nite be4 i went to bed i turned off my ipod touch, i didnt put it on standyby i turned it off, when i woke up this morning it wouldnt turn on and it still hasn't since it is not on it won't show up in itunes and i don't want to bring it to an apple stor because the warrenty is up and they would blame it on jailbreaking it. Is there a way i can turn it back on or at least have it show in itunes?

If holding the Power button fails to start the device (try for up to 30 seconds), you could restore (using a restorative mode).

i eventually realised that the battery was 100% dead, so i left it turned off plugged in for a few days (i had heard that iPods still charge a little when they are turned off) and eventually it had enough power to turn on
