Ipod Touch 2G Stuck On Boot Logo

Ok so I am trying to fix a buddy of mines itouch 2g. This is the background .. He was at the lake and decided to jump in with it in his pocket. he took it home and says it was still working you could just see water under the screen and the touch screen was not very responsive unless pressed on hard. anyways he let it dry out and when he tried to turn it back on it wouldnt so he gave it to me. I have been able to charge it and get it to load to the apple logo but that as far as i can get it. my macbook sees it as a ipod and connects it to itunes. It even will let m sync it but the ipod never leaves the apple logo. I have restored in in regular and DFU modes and it says it finishes it but still the ipod stays at the apple logo. I would think that i would be able to restore it since it responds to the computer and all but it wont leave this damn logo lol. Anyways it will sit at just the apple logo for about 10 mins the the spinning wheel pops up for about 5 mins and then goes away and it just repeats. If anyone has any advise I will gladly take it . thanks a lot guys

*UPDATE* I HAVE TRIED TO RESTORE WITH BOTH 2.2.1 AND 2.1 NEITHER WORKED... I AM ABOUT TO TRY 3.0 AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS!

*new update* i finally got it working by updating to 3.0. But now i think the digitizer is fried because it doesnt respond to any touch. Anyone know where i can get a cheap digitizer besides ebay? Thanks

Ebay is the cheapest for the part. Anywhere else would be alot more expensive.

I have the exact same problem, a friend gave his to me, to see if I can make it work, I dont think this one has been wet, but when I conect to pc iTunes does not find it and it stays on red battery logo for a while, then it goes to the apple and stays there, you can see the backlight go off and on, but apple stays there. How do I DFU it??? same as the iPhone??? Its there a hard reset setting??? What can I do???

****Forgot to mention that I perform a force restar on it, sleep and home at the same time, and it respond to it, goes off, come back on, BUUUT, stays on the apple. HELP!!!!!
