Hi
I have an Ipod Touch with version 2.2 installed on it. The problem is that I cannot switch it off - the power button does nothing when pressed.
If the Ipod is connected to a PC I can operate with it (except the powering off), but if I disconnect it from the PC and reset it then it is not able to boot - it just shows me the apple logo and the resets, then again the apple logo and so on...
Does anybody have the same problem?
I tried everything - reseting, restoring... no luck yet
Can someone help me?
Do you mean turn it off (hold the power button until a slide comes out that asks to turn off), put it in sleep (press it swiftly) or is the button completely unresponsive? Is this new or used? A first or second generation iPod? Has it happened since your got it or has it begun to happen recently? Have you brought it into an Apple Store to have it checked?
When you connect to your computer, what do you mean by you can 'operate' it?
The button is completely unresponsive. This is a 1st generation Ipod Touch. It was bought some time ago but it was not used for some time. I think the problem is present from the beginning.
When I connect it to a PC it can boot normally and I can use all the applications. It cannot power off though even connected to the PC.
This sounds like a hardware issue (the power button), so you should take it into an Apple Store. They should fix it or give you a new one (though then you can't jailbreak ). If you can't get to an Apple Store, you'll have to deal with the power button. The booting issue is a worry; try this to solve your booting issue.
But in all honesty, that iPod is on the verge of death, especially since one of the two buttons won't work! Try to get to an Apple Store.
