iPod app memory on new computer?
So I am upgrading my computer to windows vista from xp and that means that I will have to erase everything from my HDD and start brand new. Also getting a new iTunes. So now my question: will iTunes remember my iPod touch and that I bought these apps or will it bring up the message " this iPod is connected to another computer inorder to continue you must reformate the iPod and sync from this computer" cause I do not want to lose my apps . Not to worried bout my music though ( idump
) thanks guys.

Yes it will think it is a new computer. But with an iPod Touch, you don't have to worry because when you plug it in to the new iTunes, set it up as a new iPod, and it will say do you want to erase everything on this ipod and sync it with this library, or transfer all data from this ipod to this computer. If you choose that it puts all of your crap onto that iTunes.

if your really worried you can just do a backup of your library which includes apps. also before you do anything set your ipod to manually manage so the sync thing is out of the way. then authorize computer up in the store menu of itunes and you should be good to go.

wow i totally went home and crashed. sorry about that. ok so here it is. its now more complicated than it used to be but youll get your music back.

first you need to make sure you can ssh into the ipod touch (open ssh blah blah blah)
once you get in navigate to "/private/var/mobile/Media/iTunes_Control/Music"
there you will find tons of folders starting with f. copy them all to a folder in your my music folder
once its all done just drag that folder right into itunes and you should see all the music
then go to file>library>consolidate library
that should get you taken care of without the need of media monkey at allThe beatings will continue until morale improves.
