Default My touch is potentially screwed and I need your help!

Hey, so I'm in dire need of some help here
So, I was attempting to jailbreak my iPod on Saturday. All was going well until the program froze while it was finishing. I disconnected my ipod. bad idea. now i've got the whole BSD root: md0, major 2, minor 0 Fix thing scrolling down my screen. Its an easy fix, yeah, but i've got a problem.
My home button is dead. It was working fine untill a few days ago when it started to get a little unresponsive. The instant i screwed up my iPod, it went to hell.
TL;DR: I have a "bricked" touch (BSD root: md0, major 2, minor 0 Fix) and my home button is totally unresponsive. I figure if i can get the home button to work at least once, I can fix the whole thing myself. I honestly don't think and apple store will help me out much, though if i manage to fix it myself, my iPod is still under warranty.
    Any suggestions?

Well, if your home button wont work, and can't be read by the computer, then you can't restore. You could try to bring it to the Apple store to see if they will fix it, but that error message may be suspicious (could be related to ill-use on your part, therefore voiding your use of the warranty).

But I don't know of a way to put it into restore/DFU mode with the power button, so that's your hope.

Ah, thanks, I'm thinking that's basically my only option
I was hoping someone might know how to restore it magically without the home button but I guess not

The home button is a membrane button, while use or excessive pressing may have damaged the membrane it most likely will work but not as you are used to. To explain the membrane button is just making a contact in a circuit - there are two possible states - open (no button press) or pressed (circuit closed). The length you close the circuit then dictates what happens (ie holding for 10 seconds to force close an app, or close, open, close to get the ipod menu or whatever on the double press. Damage or wear to button will stop the button working as expected, but you may get response by pressing heavy to the left, right, top or bottom of the button. As you are stuck currently in a boot loop this is going to be a hard trial and error, but basically plug the ipod into your computer, hold top and home (but hard to one point N,S,E,W) and wait for the boot logo - if nothing happens repeat but try again holding the home button at a different point - don't give up, keep trying it will work eventually.
